Competing against 23 other companies from 16 European countries, our team here at Gas2Green participated in the JA Europe Enterprise Challenge 2015 in Lisbon, Portugal on the 2-4th of July.
The JA Europe initiative, Start Up Programme, annually engages over 14,000 university students from 300 schools, giving them the opportunity to experience running a business from top to bottom. More than 90 students were welcomed to compete at the European-level in Lisbon after participating in the yearlong Start Up Programme at a national-level, where the national winners became qualifyed to the JA EEC 2015.
The competition covered several different events. One was a jury pitch of no more than 2 minutes in front of JA’s judges. Here the we had to present the entire idea, business plan and establishment budget. The judges would then go on to ask some critical questions in these regards.
Another event was a professional stand. All the teams had to set up a stand from where they would be able to present their idea and business to all participants and judges throughout the entire day. At this stand, our team had time to elaborate and explain, in depth, our idea and what our business plan is.
The last event was a stage presentation in front of everyone participating, their teams, people from JA Europe, Hyundai jury and judges alike. The presentation had to take a maximum of four minutes. It can be experienced as video clip by following the link below:
As the best enterprise our team at Gas2Green became the ‘Overall Winner’ of the competition, additionally winning the ‘Hyundai Brilliant Young Entrepreneurs Award’ and an ‘Alumni Leadership Award’. Gas2Green was chosen based on our innovative idea and strong business potential, which offers a solution to an increasing problem in the maritime sector.
