The Product

In the maritime industry an increasing focus on environmental impact and fuel prices in consistency with the operation of ships is evident. ”GAS2GREEN” is in the process of developing a plant, with the purpose of using a waste product being abundantly produced on board ships in terms of waste gas emissions.

The ”GAS2GREEN” plant is based on the principles of electrolysis and is able to recycle an unused waste product by empowerment of a renewable energy source.

The plant will be constructed in such a way, that the scrubber wash water from the flue gas purification is led to a storage tank. This water will then be pumped into an electrolytic cell. The cell itself will be powered by electricity from renewable energy sources, or simply from excessive power from the power management system, through a smart grid calculation method. The water in the cell will through electrolysis be split into its elements, thereby creating liquid hydrogen and oxygen in the process, where sulfur will remain as alloys to be removed separately. The hydrogen can then be stored in tanks, and be used at a later time, to produce power by reversing the polarity of the electrolytic cell or by using the hydrogen as a fuel for other auxiliary engines. By this process the ship will become more sustainable as well as optimize its overall economic efficiency, by reusing wasted energy from combustion.

”GAS2GREEN” has applied for a Letters Patent in Denmark, May 2015 entitled “Scrubber wash water electrolytic treatment plant”

Business Model

”GAS2GREEN” offers our “entry customer” a “freemium” principle solution – a combination of our skills, competences and know-how combined with the in house expertise and knowledge of the customer. This “open business model” will be based partly on the entry customer partly on the scalability – and the customer will be offered our product at no cost basis – providing the ship owner agrees to participate in test- and implementation as well as evaluation processes at a later stage. This is a standard business model and philosophy in the maritime business.

Alternatively an agreement on a price or reimbursement in terms of percentage savings through the implementation of our product can be agreed upon. This alternative could be beneficial as the R & D costs are extensive. A collaboration with internal and external resources will optimize the development process and provides ”GAS2GREEN” with a shorter “time- to-market” timeframe.
